4G-ing Ahead Of The Rest

Last week Fever and Nelson Bostock helped EE deliver a breakfast briefing full of juicy announcements (and tasty bacon sandwiches).

The event saw over 50 journalists from national, consumer tech and mobile titles come to The Deck – on the roof of the National Theatre overlooking the iconic London skyline – for a press conference to hear the latest from the UK’s only 4G network. CEO Olaf Swantee and CMO Pippa Dunn announced double speed 4G, the UK’s first ever Shared Plans, a new contactless payments service ‘Cash on Tap’, new superfast fibre broadband options with Bright Box 2, and the first PAYG offering from EE – PAYG Mobile Broadband.

It feels like only yesterday that we were putting on our party frocks, heading down to Battersea Power Station and toasting champagne, celebrating the launch of EE. In the past 8 months EE has rolled out its 4G network to cover 85 towns, reaching 55% of the UK population, set to rise to 98% by the end of 2014. EE has brought the country’s telecommunications up-to-date with other leading economies across the world. Britain can now boast unequalled 4G speeds in Europe and even surpass typical 4G speeds found in the US and Japan.

Up next – EE’s first birthday!
