Meerkat mania grips Amazon.co.uk to send furry TV star to the top of the charts
If Tony Blair and Katie Price have been looking a little glum recently, it might be something to do with the fact they’ve been outsold in the book charts by none other than the nation’s favourite meerkat, Aleksandr Orlov.
Aleksandr, the star of Compare the Market’s TV adverts, recently released his autobiography ‘A Simples Life’, which soared to the top of Amazon.co.uk’s bestsellers list. As well as outselling Tony Blair and Katie Price, Aleksandr also notched up more sales than Keith Richards, Russell Brand and Michael McIntyre; making him one of 2010’s biggest selling authors.
The story of the meerkat’s rise to the top of Amazon.co.uk’s charts was a hit with the press, with Fever’s press office team securing coverage in the Daily Star, The Daily Mail, The Independent, Sky News as well TalkSport, LBC and over 40 regional online radio sites.
