This Week We Have Been . . .
…hopping on the two option menu craze, and checking out the home of steak and chicken, Tramshed. Part of Hix Restaurants and located in Shoreditch, this trendy boutique has a huge and uber chic Damien Hirst centrepiece of a *ahem* cow and chicken. For groups of four, we recommend sharing one chicken (complete with feet) and the Porterhouse steak, which was cooked to perfection. The House Red and sides of fries and greens are also a must. The staff were great and happily answered the many questions we bombarded them with about where the meat was sourced! Definitely worth a visit.
…checking out Thom Yorke’s supergroup Atoms For Peace at the Oval Space in Bethnal Green. With only Thom and Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich performing, it was an intimate show, but an excellent first opportunity to see how tracks from the album AMOK sounded live.
…visiting the newly opened cocktail bar been to Shanghai, you’ll know that they’ve been faithful to the 1920s Art Deco interior decor. It serves some impressive cocktails, notably the Opium Signature Cocktail (we had #2) – served in a cauldron (mate cup), it bubbles and steams when served!
… enjoying the first screening at Backyard Cinema, a new pop-up by Beach Blanket Babylon Shoreditch and To Be Continued Magazine. In timely fashion, the film screened was Ben Affleck’s Oscar-winning political thriller Argo. We especially liked the freshly prepared popcorn…
…screaming like sixteen year olds at the One Direction o2 gig. Probably 10 years too old to be there and certainly the only ones in sight with an alcoholic drink in hand… but who cares, it’s ONE BLOODY DIRECTION!
…watching the mighty Premier League-destroying Bantams in the League Cup Final – a truly spectacular day out at Wembley, even if it was a bit chilly (ahem, let’s ignore the final score and just enjoy the moment…)
