Unveiling Canon’s revolution in resolution
For the past couple of months the Canon Europe team has been busy working away on a secret project that’s had us all intrigued. Well the cat’s now out of the bag, as last week Fever & Canon officially unveiled two new Canon EOS DSLRs at an exclusive global event held in London.
The event, at The Deck on top of The National Theatre, welcomed over 30 top tier photography press from Europe for the grand unveiling of the EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R. It was a chilly London morning, but press were welcomed with a hearty breakfast before settling down to an exciting presentation, put together by the Fever team, from senior Canon Europe execs, which took everyone through the product details.
After the presentation, press were able to put the products to the test and try out the flagship 50 megapixel sensor. The DSLRs have been designed with professional photographers in mind and as such we had Canon Explorers, David Noton and Fernando Guerra, on hand to help press take picture perfect imagery. Photographic subjects included London’s beautiful city skyline and river landscape, as well as a beautiful still life flower installation that added some vibrant colour to the cold February day.
The day continued with back-to-back media interviews with Canon product experts as well as more product testing. Before we knew it, it was time for press to hand back their cameras and head home, with free time to write up their stories from the experience, ahead of the global embargo lifting a couple of days later.
Now we’re eagerly awaiting full product reviews, when the products come out in a couple of months’ time so watch this space…
