Football-loving family wins ultimate fan park right in their back garden with Toshiba

With the summer of football in full swing and the sun shining (honestly, it was shining not so long ago we’re sure), we worked with our client Toshiba to make the dreams of one lucky football fan come true.

With social distancing still in place and football tickets even rarer than usual, we wanted to bring the fan park feeling to the home – or more specifically the garden.

We launched a nationwide competition across Toshiba’s social channels asking football fans to nominate their friends and family to find the country’s biggest supporters.

The prize for the winner? – the ultimate back garden football fan park, complete with a purpose-built bar to enjoy a frosty drink while watching the game, food truck for on-demand pizza, stadium seating to replicate the experience of being at a match, inflatable football games for the whole family to enjoy, confetti cannons to boost the celebrations, and, of course, a big screen Toshiba smart 4K HDR TV.

To promote the competition, we created bespoke social assets for each of our platforms, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We tested different copy and target audiences to ensure we were reaching the most dedicated footballs fans – the audience likely to be interested in a new TV during major football tournaments – before boosting the best performing assets to drive entries over two weeks.

After over 870 entries across Toshiba’s social channels, the Fairbrother family from Stathern, near Leicester, won the experience. Kate Fairbrother nominated her sister, Mary, who’s a huge football fan and a tireless supporter of her beloved Foxes and fantastic efforts to support her youngest daughter’s local team, Asfordby Amateurs.

The sisters opted to transform their parents garden in Stathern into a football oasis for the England vs Czech Republic game. Check it out below.
