Recently, we created an incredible hyper-real street art mural in Tottenham to launch the start of the new Premier League season on Sky Q – showing in Ultra HDR for the first time – bringing fans closer to the action, making darks darker and brights brighter.
Featuring three of England’s EUROs heroes, the mural of Jordan Pickford, Luke Shaw and Raheem Sterling was created by Bristolian street artist, Jody Thomas, who specialises in creating artwork using colour and vibrancy, to bring the qualities of Sky Q’s live HDR sport coverage to life.
The mural’s line-up was decided by the nation, with the England trio topping the list of favourite players, based on performances at the Euros.
As well as deciding the line-up, our research also found that we are a nation of sofa tacticians, as watching at home is football fans’ favourite viewing experience away from the ground, with the local pub coming in a close second. Nearly half also said that they love football so much, they don’t know that they would do without it.
We captured some amazing photography and video footage of the work in progress and, of course, when complete we packaged it all up for media.
The result was an incredible lifelike mural and a modest 175 pieces of coverage including: BBC, Independent, Mirror, Sky Sports News, Sun and Star. Back of the net!
