This Week We Have Been…
…enjoying the beautiful weather by hitting the beach. With the mercury hitting 18 degrees, we jumped on a train to the beautiful Dorset coast, for a stroll along the beach and lots of tasty Purbeck ice cream. The sea might look inviting, be we can assure you it was freezing!
……counting down the days to the Somerset House Summer Series. We were at our desks at 8.59am this morning waiting for the tickets to go on sale one minute later. Despite the website crashing for 15minutes due to popular demand, we managed to bag ourselves a couple of tickets to see Little Dragon on Sunday 20th July. Now all we need is some sunshine.
…obsessing about the new song #SELFIE by The Chainsmokers. We can’t decide if we love it or hate it, but it’s definitely got us talking around the office. Have a listen and see what you think!
…heading down to our favourite new movie night I Only Watch 18s to watch the critically acclaimed The Raid. With The Raid 2 coming out soon what better time to catch up on the first one? The Exhibit Cinema in Balham is always perfect for grabbing a couple of beers and curling up on one of their comfy sofas.
…getting some Friday late night culture at the Royal Academy. ‘Sensing Spaces: Architecture Reimagined’ sees the ornate main galleries transformed by seven leading architects, who were all briefed to give visitors a new perspective on architecture. From an ever evolving neon straw sculpture to a maze of birch trees and four huge wooden follies you can climb up, the most wonderful thing about this exhibition is that it is fun and it gives you the chance to interact with a space that can sometimes feel quite formal and hallowed. Enchanting and engaging.
…celebrating the start of Live Cinema Season with the Royal Opera House. We headed to Hackney Picture House to watch the opening night of Sleeping Beauty streamed live from the Royal Opera House. Presented by Darcey Bussell with exclusive backstage insights, it’s a great alternative if you can’t get tickets to the ballet itself. The ballet was amazing, Sarah Lamb’s debut as Aurora is not to be missed. You can find a list of all participating cinemas on the ROH website.
…channelling our inner child in Martin Creed’s balloon pit. More commonly referred to as ‘Half the air in a given space’, this art installation encourages visitors to battle a sea of balloons inside a small glass box.
…getting our adrenaline fix with a spot of ‘sand dune bashing’ in Dubai courtesy of Desert Safari Dubai – which essentially means a rollercoaster ride around the dessert in a 4×4. After we’d recovered from the trauma, we took a moment to take in the view….total bliss!
…enjoying Bandstand Busking, a monthly free acoustic session, which tours around hidden gems and undiscovered open areas of London. On Saturday we saw Dan Croll perform there as part of the first line-up of the season at Northampton Square near Barbican. It was a delightful way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
