What Fever’s watching in 2024

New year, new movies and TV shows to get hooked on! There’s a buzz in the Fever office this week – and instead of dry Jan woes, or Veganuary recipes, it’s all about what we’re excited to tune into this year, either at the cinema, or stream at home. Here’s some of the top picks Fever’s excited to watch in 2024.

TV

The Traitors – BBC, 3 Jan 2024

If you don’t know about this, where have you been? One of the best reality TV shows to grace our screens for an age. Claudia – check. A group of cunning, conniving and truthful members of public – check. Who will be backstabbed first? Will they work out who is a traitor? Will they take the money home. We’re hooked and it’s not even started!

The Artful Dodger – Disney+, 17 Jan 2024

Think you know everything there is to know from the Dicken’s classic? Think again. This dark comedy follows the exploits of Jack Dawkins, a pickpocket from Oliver Twist. Thomas Brodie-Sangster (yes, of Love Actually Fame) plays the title role, and we follow his adventures living in 1850’s Australia.

Expats – Amazon Prime, 26 Jan 2024

We’ll be joining Nicole Kidman in 2014 Hong Kong, where she and two other American women’s lives are connected after a sudden family tragedy.

Masters of the Air – Apple TV+, Jan 2024

From the same team behind Band of Brothers and The Pacific, this is sure to be a hit. Based on a book of the same name by Donald L. Miller, Masters of The Air is a WWII series will feature bombing raids that were conducted over Nazi Germany, and battles an incredible 25,000 feet in the air. Plus Austin Butler and Barry Keoghan star – what’s not to like?!

Everything else

Looking further ahead, we can’t wait to watch Avatar: The Last Airbender, the live action remake that’s hitting Netflix in Feb.

Plus there’s Mary & George on Sky – where we’ll learn all about the dark and mysterious history of the Villiers family that found themselves in Royal favour back in the 1600s.

And of course, the countdown is on for Bridgerton when it returns to Netflix on 16 May 2024, to see just what is going to happen to Penelope and Colin….

MOVIES

Mean Girls – 17 Jan 2024

Take the 2004 movie classic, add some inspiration from the award-winning Broadway musical, and you’ve got Mean Girls 2024. A new era of The Plastics, a new Cady Heron joining North Shore High, and new dramas to unravel. We can’t wait. You go, Glen Coco!

Dune: Part 2 – March 2024

Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya are reunited for part two, while Florence Pugh joins as Princess Irulan in this second instalment of Frank Herbert’s epic novel. We can expect to see Chalamet and the Fremen  fight to take back their land before it’s too late.

Joker: Folie à Deux – October 2024

Despite Joker being pitched as a one-off, it seems the director and star Joaquin Phoenix couldn’t say no to a sequel. This time, Phoenix is joined by Lady Gaga as sidekick Dr Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn. What can we expect? Chaos, drama and a little bit of evil.
