What’s (very) Hot – 17/06/22

We know what this blog is called, and we know what literally everyone is small talking (is that a term?) today, but we promise this is a safe space away from chat about the w**th*r.

This week, Ryan Gosling got our Ken knickers in a twist, Beyonce had just about everyone excited for July 29th, Nothing made its next move to take down Apple and some lovely looking good boys were given some top quality doggy treats.

Ryan Gosling is Ken

An image which sent the internet into a frenzy overnight – and it’s as wild as you’d expect.

Following the announcement of the upcoming live-action Barbie movie, slated for a 2023 release, starring Hollywood superstar Margot Robbie as the iconic plastic doll, palpitations were set off once again on Wednesday after it was revealed that Barbie’s on-screen hunky boyfriend Ken will be played by none other than Canadian heartthrob and acclaimed actor Ryan Gosling.

Donning stonewashed denim, self-branded underwear (Ken not Ryan), bleached blonde hair and nay a shirt to be seen – the introduction of Gosling’s Ken is as camp as this movie is lining itself up to be…and we are absolutely eating it up. One cannot expect much artistic innovation or an Oscar-winning storyline from a movie about plastic toys (CC: Toy Story – we obviously don’t mean you), however it isn’t unreasonable to expect one thing and one thing only – a bloody good time!

With all we have to go on being two still images, it’s apparent that Barbie’s on-screen biopic is going to be bright, bold and unapologetic about its own ludicrous existence. This is the definition of HOT!

Nothing shows off very little

Nothing released a photo of its upcoming new phone (1) this week with a transparent back showing off the proposed iPhone Killer’s inner workings.

While offering some interesting nods to the phone’s eventual specs, Nothing’s transparent design element also has a very cool message.

Both the start-up’s first two products – coupled with the name – have elements of transparent design to demonstrate the company’s aim to one day move into ambient technology. It’s a bold way to not only educate consumers about the future of tech but also pinning the company’s future to that ambition.

Also, we’re not sure why there’s a parrot in the picture either…

The Beyhive is buzzing – Beyonce is back

It has been announced that after six years (???!!!!!) without any new music, Queen B is back. The new album is called Renaissance (perfection) and the internet is (understandably) screaming ahead of the 29th July release date.

So, what can we expect from this new album? Here is what Vogue has to say “Soaring vocals and fierce beats combine and in a split second I’m transported back to the clubs of my youth. I want to get up and start throwing moves… music that will unite so many on the dance floor, music that touches your soul.”

I mean… if you weren’t excited before you must be by now. Unfortunately, there isn’t much more in terms of details, but what we do know is that Beyonce never disappoints. So now all we can do is sit back and wait, twitching in our seats.

Dog stories are always a winner… particularly dog picture stories

This week, our three favourite things combined to make one perfect What’s Hot story – sun, ice cream and dogs and we are here for it.

Aldi, in a UK supermarket first, has launched a doggy ice cream, just in time for the heatwave (damn we finally caved and mentioned the weather) and whilst the flavours are questionable (pea and vanilla or apple and carrot) we are SURE they will go down a treat with our furry friends.

To celebrate the launch Aldi partnered with local ice cream vendors in Brighton, Essex and Scotland to provide frozen goodies to some very lucky pups.

What’s (Very) Hot over and out.
